ATV thefts on the rise in Brown County

GEORGETOWN, Ohio (LI) -- Recent months have seen an increased number of all terrain vehicle theft in Brown County, according to Brown County Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger.

According to Wenninger, owners of ATV vehicles need to store them in a locked facility if possible when not in use. Owners should maintain a record of the vehicle's identification number, make and model numbers and pictures, which will be needed by the insurance company and law enforcement officers should a theft occur.

Wenninger also encouraged ATV owners to make distinguishing marks on their ATVs for easy identification.

If someone notices suspicious ATV activity in a neighborhood, they are encouraged to call the Brown County Sheriff's Office at 937-378-4435, ext. 112 or by contacting the E-911 Communications Center at 937-378-4155.
