More than $1,500 in funds raised through the Hometown Scholarship Program

Maysville Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and the Mason County FFA Chapter announced recently that the two organizations raised more than $1,500 in scholarship funds through the Hometown Scholarship Program, which was administered in Maysville from August through November.

Through the program, FFA members accepted suggested donations of $5 from FFA supporters and community members. The donors were then invited to visit the dealership for a T-shirt as well a chance to win an all-new 2007 truck. The donated funds are earmarked for FFA chapter scholarships, the chapter’s treasury for funds for student contest and programs, and to support the states’ FFA organizations, which helps fund all statewide FFA programs.

The Hometown Scholarship Program is a national program conducted through local FFA chapters matched with their local dealership. These dealerships helped support the local chapter’s fund-raising efforts through financial contributions and local promotions.

“Not only did Maysville Ford provide this opportunity for our FFA chapters and organizations, but also supported, promoted and elevated the Hometown Scholarship Program beyond our expectations,” stated Sara Cooper, Mason County FFA President. “The funds raised through this program will help send FFA members to colleges, increase FFA programs, pay for chapter fees and enhance the development of our future agricultural leaders.”

“This program gave Maysville Ford an opportunity to directly impact and participate in our community,” said Michael Borcherding, president, Maysville Ford, Lincoln, Mercury. “As a business member in the Maysville community, we feel it’s our responsibility to assist our students as they strive for success and meet their goals.”
