Man arrested in ATV theft case

MAYSVILLE (LI) -- A Mason County man has been arrested in connection with a stolen ATV, according to Mason County Sheriff Tony Wenz.

Twenty-seven-year-old Joey R. Morton of Dixon Pike in Mason County was arrested Nov. 18 and charged with receiving stolen property over $300, Wenz said. The charge is a class D felony.

The ATV was reported missing by Nicholas Flack of Brooksville from a location on Kentucky 596 in Mason County on Nov. 4. Wenz said the item was a Polaris Magnum 4X4 ATV valued at $4,000.

Deputy Tim Nolder investigated the call and Wenz said he determined the ATV had been stolen. It was several weeks later the sheriff's office received a call in reference to an ATV sitting along the roadway on Dixon Pike, Wenz said. Nolder investigated the call and determined it was the stolen ATV. He later arrested Morton on Dec. 18 and Morton was lodged in the Mason County Detention Center.

Wenz said the ATV was returned to the owner.
