MySpace posting lands Lewis man in jail

GARRISON -- A threat to a day care center, coupled with words of sympathy for the perpetrators of the Virginia Tech and Columbine school shootings posted on a MySpace.com Internet site, landed a Lewis County man in jail Thursday.

Jesse D. Mosley Jr., 21, of Second Street, Garrison was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.

According to Kentucky State Police Detective Larry Bowling, KSP received information that Mosley alleged posted a threat of a potential shooting at a "nonspecific day care center." A warrant was obtained and Mosley was arrested at 3:33 p.m., Thursday and taken to Lewis County Detention Center, police said.

Once KSP became aware of a possible threat, it informed local day care facilities of the situation and posted an officer at the centers until Mosley was located and arrested.

"I didn't know anything about it until KSP showed up and told us about what was posted on MySpace," said Karen Killen, operator of Kiddie Castle Day Care. "KSP handled this very well. They watched here until he was picked up."

Though she has had no problems with Mosley, who lives a short distance from her day care, Killen said such threats should be taken seriously coming from anyone.

"I have seen him in the past, but as far as I can recall we have never spoken. In light of all that has happened in the past (nationally), you have to take all the appropriate precautions you can," said Killen. "He dresses in that 'Goth' style and keeps to himself but he hasn't been a problem."

Though she believes Mosley may not have been serious about what was posted, the idea of having threatening thoughts about harming someone should be looked into, said Killen.

"If he has a problem, I hope he gets the help he may need for it," she said. "After the police told me about it I found the posting on MySpace -- it was hard to find -- and what was there was very generic."

The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Mosley was arraigned in Lewis District Court and remains in LCDC on $10,000 cash bond.

" You may know him but how about all those parents that take their children to daycare who do not know him put yourself in their shoes! Leave your baby with this on your mind while remembering all those other kids who were good but shot up the schools. these remarks were totally uncalled for and why post something so disturbing if you don't mean it?? Stop and think before putting something so serious on the internet or making such hateful comments, I truly hope he has learned better but I hear he has another my space up with some of the same disturbing photos as the last, May God send him the help he needs. People this is not NORMAL! "

" if you knew jessi then you all would know that he is not the kind of guy that would shoot up a daycare. he was just making a remark about how crazy people are today. i think your taking jessi's remark the wrong way. and he doesnt deserve to be in jail for something he didnt even mean. there are a whole lot worse people out there and the police isnt doing anything about them.
