Ripley woman robbed at gunpoint

RIPLEY, Ohio -- A residence on Ripley Day Hill Road near Ripley was the target of an early morning home invasion and armed robbery Thursday, May 17.

According to a report filed by Brown County Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger, a 53-year-old unidentified female victim reported that an armed, unknown male broke into her residence demanding money at 6:52 a.m. Thursday morning. The victim also told police the man entered the house armed with what was reported to be a silver handgun.

The man took approximately $3,000 in cash from the victim. He also stole a red, four-door 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with expired Ohio license plate number DSM6126.

"The vehicle involved has not yet been located," said Sgt. Tammy Dillinger with the sheriff's department.

Officials said telephone lines to the house had been cut and the victim called police from a neighbor's home.

The victim described the suspect as standing approximately 5'10" and weighing 175-180 pounds. He was dressed in green camouflage army clothing and wore a black ski mask.

There have not been any arrests made in conjunctioin with the crime.

"No new information is avaliable at this time," said Dillinger.
