St. Patrick, Mason County play in 10th Region tourney in Mt. Sterling on Monday

Saturday, May 26, 2007 10:48 AM EDT

The draw for the 10th Region baseball tournament was held Friday in Mount Sterling, and the two Maysville representatives from the 39th District drew mystery opponents.

The district runner-up St. Patrick Saints (10-7) kick off Monday's action, at 11:30 a.m., when they will take on the champions of the 37th District, Bishop Brossart. The Mustangs have a record of 23-12, but they and the Saints did not meet this season.

The Mason County Royals (14-17), winners of the 39th, will take on the 37th runners-up, the Scott Eagles, at 4:00 p.m. Monday. Just like the other matchup, neither of these teams competed against one another in the regular season. The Eagles enter regional tournament play with a record of 15-13.

Should the Saints advance, they would play at 5:00 Tuesday in the semifinal round. Likewise, the Royals would play on Tuesday, but at 7:15 if they won.

All 10th Region Tournament games will be played at Montgomery County High School.

The draw for the district's female counterparts, 39th District softball champions Bracken County and runner-up Mason County, will take place at Bourbon County High School today.
