Dover teens dies in ATV crash

DOVER -- A Mason County teenager was killed Saturday while riding his ATV near his home, according to officials.

Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs said Maysville dispatch received a call of an ATV accident at 3023 Lees Creek Road in Dover just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Dover first responders, along with Maysville EMS and the Mason County Sheriff were dispatched to the scene.

EMS personnel and Deputy Darren Hull were the first to arrive on the scene at 10:35 a.m. They were directed to a field approximately 250 yards

from the road where the 14-year-old had rolled an all-terrain vehicle, Boggs said. The victim, identified Sunday as Wesley J. Deatley, was given CPR at the scene and as he was transported to Meadowview Regional Medical Center.


Despite the efforts, Deatley was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Boggs said the juvenile was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Deatley, the son of Michael and Crystal Deatley was a freshman student at Mason County High School.

Funeral services at Highland Christian Church in Maysville are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday.
