WEST UNION, Ohio -- An Adams County grand jury has handed down an indictment against the father of a handicapped adult.
Rory Jones, 47, of Stout, Ohio, was indicted for failing to provide for a functionally impaired person. He allegedly collected funds for the care of his daughter, while the severely disabled woman was actually in the care of her mother, his estranged wife, at a neighboring property.
In 2006 the mother, Melinda Jones, was charged with abuse of her daughter; shortly after a trial date was planned, Melinda Jones agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge. After formally pleading guilty to failing to provide for a functionally impaired person, a fourth-degree felony, Jones was sentenced by Judge Brett Spencer of the Adams County Court of Common Pleas to three years of community control in October.
