Missing girl yet to contact family

OTWAY, Ohio -- A missing child, concerned families and a search filled with roadblocks has those investigating the alleged Adams County runaway, Leticia "Tish" Chamblin worried.

The girl disappeared, along with her boyfriend Dwight Fecke Jr., 17, also of Otway, on March 6.

"It has been 11 days and nobody has heard from Tish, allegedly, Dwight (Fecke) has been in contact with some friends and possibly one side of his family, but not a word from Tish," said Tad Camp, a private investigator the Chamblin family has enlisted to help find the 14-year-old.

The lack of communication on the girl's part concerns Camp and members of both families.

"Usually, in cases like this, the runaway either returns or is at least in contact with some of her friends. According to a girl who is a good friend of Tish's, she has not been in contact and there are no further messages from Tish on her MySpace page since the night before she disappeared," Camp said. "Her parents have been trying to talk to Adams County Sheriff's Office detectives but are not getting any information on any investigation. The best friend said no police had even spoken with her."

Fecke's was on good terms with his father, but he was living with his mother, Teresa Tomlin at the time of the incident.

Information from Fecke's mother has been less than sparse, Camp said.

While following leads in his investigation, Camp said he was contacted by members of Tomlin's family.

"They wanted me to stop calling their family members in my effort to locate Tish, which made me even more suspicious that the information I had received about them assisting Dwight Jr. with money, may have been close to true," Camp said. "She also refuses to report the boy as missing which would put the case into NCIC (National Crime Information Center). His father can't do it because (Tomlin) is the custodial parent."

Fecke's father, Dwight Fecke Sr. has been cooperating with officials in trying to locate his son and clear the air about his son's past upbringing.

"He is a good boy, he was never in any trouble for the 14 and a half years he was living with me in Dayton; he wanted to live with his mother for a while -- she promised him the moon -- and has been living with his mother for the last two years," Fecke Sr. said Tuesday.

The father moved to Adams County to retain the bond with his son while the boy lived with his mother. Remaining friends with the Chamblin family has been a strain, but he is in constant contact with Randy Chamblin, Tish's father, Fecke Sr. said.

"I feel terrible this has happened. I love my son, but I am working side by side with Randy to find their daughter too," Fecke Sr. said. "I have to look her grandmother in the eye every day (at work) and I know she is hurting. My (late) mother's side of the family is also helping."

A MySpace page has been set up to encourage Chamblin and Fecke's friends to somewhat anonymously assist in the investigation, Camp said.

"I will not release the names of those who use the page under MySpace.com/leticiachamblin. It is just there to help," Camp said. "I contacted the school and asked if they would announce it today."

Any word from Chamblin herself is important to easing fears generated by the last 11 days of not knowing what has happened, Camp said.

"It worries all of us that this may have changed from a willing to leave situation to one where Tish cannot communicate for some reason and Dwight is scared," said Camp.

Chamblin is also listed on the Missing Children Network, Camp said.

Though the entire situation is upsetting, the main concern is the safe return of both teens who may be anywhere from Illinois to LaFayette, La., Camp said.

"His father is worried, her parents are worried. It is better for them (teens) to make some contact with them," he said. "Not a soul has heard from this child."

According to ACSO Detective Richard DeMint, officers are following up on rumors and leads as they come in, but have not been able to locate the pair.

Attempts to contact Tomlin were unsuccessful; a phone number listed in her name was out of service.

Anyone with information on the teens should call the Adams County Sheriff at 937-544-2314 or Camp at 727-641-7409.

" I dont see why the boys mother hasnt reported him missing either. That makes NO SENSE to me at all..If a mother would help her son "kidnap" a girl then she needs to be locked up just as much as the boy does. "

" Most of these statements are false. Dwight has been listed as a runaway and they have his picture. The do have a recent number for the mother because all officials have been in contact with her since the date of the event. And the only person that the family asked to leave alone is the boys sister who is 7 months pregnant and high risk. With everyone calling her and harassing her it's stressing her out and has given her more complications. Dwight's side of the family has been trying to find him every single day. The mother will go looking for them both hopeing to come across them some where. No one in the family has been helping them. They would like to have him back just as much as her family would like to have her back. And Dwight has only been in contact with his family twice...
no more, no less. So please don't be so quick to judge. Everyone knows all the info, but is trying to make it look like the young man is the one to blame for all this. Maybe there is a reason for the girl not to contact family.. Anybody ever think of that?
Maybe She is afriad to go home... because she don't know what will happen to her or him... "

" why hasn't the parents of Dwight reported him like chamblins parents did makes u wonder what the parents are hiding cause either way he will still get in trouble "

" Dwight has contacted friends and some family...did either party think to ask him where Tish was? And is she okay? This would have been my first question for him. I hope she comes home safe.
