He was a farmer and served four years in World War II. He was a member of the VFW and attended East Fork Christian Church. He was the son of Dock and Wilma Highfield. Mr. Highfield was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Mason Highfield. Survivors include five sons Bruce (Linda) Highfield Jr. of Chalk Ridge, Harry "Bubby" (Jap) Highfield of Chalk Ridge, Kenny (Barb) Highfield of Mount Olivet, Ray (Debbie) Highfield of Germantown, and James Poole of Columbus, Ohio; seven daughters, Annie Penrod of Chalk Ridge, Connie (Jimmy) Mason of Cabin Creek, Opal (Tom) Truesdell of Chalk Ridge, Joyce (Brent) Nolder of Sullivan Ridge, Margaret (Hoss) Tully of Chalk Ridge, Katie (Sonny) Bess of Maysville, and Della (Steve) Kabler of Maysville; 35 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; one brother, Calvin Highfield of Maine; and two sisters, Margaret Palmer and Ruthie Shelton of Manchester, Ohio. He was proceeded in death by two daughters, Regina Truesdell and Lisa Highfield; two brothers, John and Wilbur Highfield; one sister, Hazel Kabler; two grandchildren, Joni Tully and Michael Palmer; and his second wife, Juanita Lykins Highfield. Services are Monday, May 19, at 1 p.m. at Barbour and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Heller officiating. Burial will follow in East Fork Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro.
