MR. GROOMS

MANCHESTER, Ohio -- Harold H. Grooms, 86, of Manchester, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at his home.

He was a retired mail carrier and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church, Mason Lodge No. 317, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and a 50 year member of the DAV of Adams County.

Mr. Grooms was born April 27, 1922, in Cherry Fork, Ohio, the son of the late Harry and Effie Baldwin Grooms.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Roush Grooms; a daughter, Karlene (Jim) Leonard of West Union, Ohio; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty Pownall of Manchester, Myrtle Grooms of West Union, and Ruth Shanks of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Services are 1 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Manchester United Methodist Church with Rev. David Lofton and Rev. Mac White officiating.

Burial will follow in the Manchester Cemetery with military graveside services by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, at Wilson Home for Funerals with Masonic services at 8 p.m.
