AUGUSTA -- Hazel Mefford, 94 of Augusta, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Alva Mefford, Sr. She was born in Augusta on Sept. 29, 1913 to the late John and Barbara Hay Walters. She retired from the US Shoe Company in Ripley, Ohio and was a member of Augusta Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son Paul (Jewell) Mefford of Augusta; and a daughter-in-law Judy Mefford of Augusta; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son Alva A. Mefford; and a daughter Gloria Mefford.

Services are 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at the Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Augusta Cemetery.

Visitation is 6 - 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Augusta Baptist Church, Fourth Street, Augusta, Ky. 41002.
