Mason County's Setty to continue basketball career at Georgetown College
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 9:32 PM EDT Print this story | Email this story
Trevor Setty will continue a Mason County High School basketball tradition.

Setty, the 6-foot-7 forward on the Royals' 2008 state championship team, announced Monday that he will continue his basketball career at Georgetown College, the same school where Mason County standouts Kelly Middleton and Chris O'Hearn played basketball.

Setty called Georgetown "a proven winner" and said that his dealings with Georgetown made him "feel like I'm just wanted."

The Tigers were NAIA national runners-up this past season.

On hand for the ceremony were Georgetown head coach Happy Osborne and assistant coach K.C. Goodin, who was instrumental in recruiting Setty.

"In my opinion, we're signing the best shooter in Kentucky," Osborne said. "We got the guy we wanted."

Setty averaged 14.9 points a game and shot 35.8 percent from three-point range and 72.5 percent on free throws. He teamed with University of Kentucky signee Darius Miller to give the Royals one of the best 1-2 combinations in Kentucky.

Setty probably will be redshirted as a freshman. Osborne said he has redshirted every freshman but one during his tenure.

Setty said he approved the idea of redshirting because it will give him time to add some weight to his 180-pound frame and to work with Georgetown's strength coach.

O'Hearn, the head coach of the Royals, said Setty "has been an oustanding basketball player for us the past four years. He's known for knocking down the big shot. His potential as a college basketball player has a high ceiling."

Setty, the son of Tim and Kim Setty, said he plans to study xxxxxx at Georgetown.

" I didn't know Georgetown offered a degree in "xxxxxx" I might have thought about transferring there.

In all seriousness though, good luck Trevor. "
