Police in three jurisdictions are comparing notes on the alleged theft of a car and other items in the Maysville area.
The thefts may be linked to a couple alleged to be found in possession of stolen goods, Tuesday, police said.
"On Tuesday night, Mason County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Fitch had stopped to assist a motorist on Kentucky 9 near the McFarland car dealership," said mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs. "The car had apparently broken an axle when it hit the curb. When (Fitch) shined his light into the car the male passenger fled."
Fitch called for assistance and stayed with the female driver, later identified as Jillian Tucker, of Bracken County.
"She was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of stolen property," Boggs said.
Property believed to have come from a nearby vehicle and valued at over $2,000 was recovered from Tucker's car, Boggs said.
With Fitch occupied detaining Tucker, Daniel Roberts, the passenger, was believed to be attempting to get home via other means, Boggs said.
"We are not sure if the two are related, but a short time later Maysville police reported a 1999 black Monte Carlo was stolen from a subdivision behind K-Mart," Boggs said.
The car belonged to Kim Setty of Shawnee Hills, police said.
Bracken County Sheriff's Office was notified of the possibility of Roberts and the Monte Carlo returning to the area of Powersville Willow Road where Tucker and Roberts allegedly live, he said.
According to officials, on Wednesday afternoon Roberts was located and arrested at his Bracken County residence. The whereabouts of the vehicle was later revealed, based on a lead on where Roberts had allegedly left it.
"The car was found by Maysville Police Detective Ken Fuller at the Daniel Boone Motor Inn, in Aberdeen, Ohio. This (arrest) may shed more light on two or three other burglaries in the Bracken County area," said Bracken Sheriff Chuck Rechtin. "(Roberts) is being charged with the burglary of Darryl's Bar in Germantown, but there are other charges pending."
At Roberts' residence, police found items allegedly stolen from the bar, including 13 cases of beer, and items believed to be from other burglaries.
"We have to get the victims in to identify their items before we can be sure," Rechtin said.
Tucker was taken to Mason County Detention Center on Tuesday night; Roberts on Wednesday.
