Mason County grand jury indicts 14

A Mason County grand jury handed down indictments naming 14 people Friday on charges ranging from drug trafficking to failure to register as a sex offender and burglary.
Robert Allen Emmons, 49, was indicted on one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of second-degree persistent felony offender.
Emmons was arrested Sept. 18 by Maysville Police Officer T.C. Rice after investigating complaints received of Emmons allegedly selling pain pills in the west end of downtown Maysville. At the time, MPD Detective Ken Fuller said while conducting an interview with the suspect, Rice told officers he found Emmons to be in possession of 80 pills which were not in a proper container.
During the investigation, police said officers seized additional pills and several hundred dollars in cash from Emmons' residence.
Emmons' arrest in September was the fourth time he has been arrested by police on five drug trafficking and related charges since 2004, Fuller said.
According to the indictment, Emmons was found to be in possession of 80 oxycodone, a Schedule II narcotic drug.
A superseding indictment was handed down against Marcus Shane Walker on charges of first-degree sodomy, intimidating a witness in a legal proceeding, fourth-degree assault and first-degree persistent felony offender.
The indictment claims Walker "engaged in deviate sexual intercourse" by forcible compulsion with an unnamed female, and threatened the same female that he "would cut off her head and throw it in the yard if she called police."
Other individuals indicted by the grand jury included:
-- Herschel James Chris Oaks, second-degree burglary, and theft by unlawful taking over $300.
-- Jason Mullikan, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening.
-- Jeremy L. Hayes, receiving stolen property over $300.
-- Shawn B. Frost, receiving stolen property over $300.
-- Anthony Cash, theft by unlawful taking over $300, first-degree persistent felony offender.
-- Walter Burch, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
-- Kathy L. Mason, theft by failure to make required disposition in excess of $300, and tampering with physical evidence.
-- Gregory D. Moore, flagrant nonsupport.
-- Roger Allen Lathem, flagrant nonsupport.
-- Michael Keith Poe, DUI, fourth offense within five years, operating a motor vehicle while license suspended or revoked for DUI, third-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle, and leaving scene of an accident.
-- Eric Poe, obtaining controlled substance by fraud and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
-- Harold Mason Atherton, failure to comply with sex offender registry, by failure to register change of address.
