MRS. HIGHFIELD

TOLLESBORO -- Mrs. Winona Applegate Highfield, 86, of Maysville, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at her home.

She was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Lewis County to the late Jessie James Applegate and Pearl Davis Applegate.

She is survived by her husband, Claude "Bud" Highfield of Maysville. They were married on May 27, 1944, and have been married for 64 years.

She was a member of the Calvary Temple in Maysville, a lifetime member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the DAV in Vanceburg.

She is survived by one son, Claude C. "Bud" Highfield Jr. of Louisiana; one daughter, Sue Grigson of Concord; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Highfield.

Services are 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro. Pastor, Gordon Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Gardens of Memories in Mason County.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m., today at the funeral home.
