FLEMINGSBURG -- Mildred Frances Tracy Moreland passed from this earth Sept. 30, 2008, and was reunited with her husband where both are in the loving arm of our Heavenly Father. Family and friends kept vigil at her bedside and were with her at her passing.
Frances, Sancie, Scooter, Mom, Tucky Mom or Mother as she was fondly called by family and friends lived on this earth for 90 years. She spent her last years living in May's Lick but for several years lived on Stonelick Road near Orangeburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Reynolds Moreland Sr.; and son, Jack E. Moreland.
Frances was born in Livingston County, to Samuel Terah Tracy and Willis Burton Mitchell Tracy. She was one of seven children. She has one surviving sister.
Frances was mother to Joyce (Robert Gish, deceased) of Ormond Beach, Fla., Joellen (Don M. Hull) of May's Lick, Reynola (Allen Carrigan) of Englewood, Ohio, Reynolds (Earlene) Moreland Jr. of May's Lick, Robert (Carolyn) Moreland of Florissant, Colo., Thomas (Barbara) Moreland of May's Lick, and Timothy (Karen) Moreland of Flemingsburg. She is survived by 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Two grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.
Frances, city born and bred, learned to be a supportive farmer's wife. She milked the cows, raised a garden and worked to make a comfortable home for her large family. She worked beside her husband in their appliance store and made history by being the first woman school bus driver in Mason County in 1951. She loved that job and all her "kids" who were passengers on the bus.
Frances was active in school activities with her children. Orangeburg High School students knew her as a substitute teacher as well as PTA president and basketball team supporter.
A lifelong Methodist, Frances was a member of Seddon United Methodist Church, Maysville. Membership in Orangeburg Homemakers, May's Lick Garden Club were important to her until her health began to fail. Quilting was a hobby she was able to continue until recently.
Graveside serves will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., at May's Lick Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Saturday at Denton-Workman Funeral Home, Flemingsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Hope, Maysville.
