GLASGOW, TALLEY CHAMPIONS -- Glasgow won the girls' team championship, and Caldwell County freshman Emma Talley was the individual titlist, in the Kentucky state high school tournament at Bowling Green Country Club.

Glasgow shot a two-day total of 664 to edge out runner-up West Jessamine by five strokes. Scott County was third.

Talley put together rounds of 65 and 69 for a 134 that was nine shots ahead of her closest competitor, Lydia Gumm, an eighth-grader from North Hardin.

Mason County shot 423 in the first round and failed to make the cut. The Lady Royals' top finisher was Tiara Harris, who shot a 97 in the first round.

The boys' state tournament begins today on the same course. Mason County's five-man team of Eric White, Ryan Hamm, Tanner Walton, Josh Harris and Bradley Litzinger will be competing. So will St. Patrick sophomore Russell Rigg, who qualified as an individual.
