The Mason County Lady Royals golf team appears unlikely to make the cut in the state tournament being played at Bowling Green Country Club.
Mason County was one of 10 teams which finished the rain-delayed first round Tuesday. Seven teams finished ahead of Mason County, and 10 teams were unable to complete the round, which was suspended at 7:15 p.m. EDT.
Only the top 11 teams and the top 20 individuals advance to the final 18 holes.
The Lady Royals shot a team score of 423, with only sophomore Tiara Harris breaking 100. Harris shot 95, which is 25 over par.
The other scores for Mason County: freshman Christen Cropper 101, seventh-grader Lauren Vice 110, freshman Peyton Houchens 115 and sophomore Bridgit Morris 124.
The leading team among those who finished the first round was Pulaski County with 372. The individual leaders were junior Katy Humphrey of Paintsville and junior Ashleigh Howerton of Hopkins County Central, who shot 80s.
Organizers plan to complete round 1 this morning, and round 2 would begin in the afternoon after the field is cut. In case the second round cannot be played, the final scores will be the first-round results.
