" The middle school brought in a coach just to work with their linemen and let them know that winning starts at the line. Coach Darnell made my son feel for the first time that he was a star even as a linemen. I hope everyone doesn't overlook what he added in his first year here! They were district champs this year! The high school only worries about their so called feature kids and so keeps featuring losses! "

" Everybody needs to give credit to these football coaches! It takes alot of time and patience to do the job they do. If it wasn't for Coach Faust this football program would have never got started! Also lets put a big GOOD JOB to Coach Breeze and Coach May way to bring home district champs!! We have alot of talented boys in this county lets get things together and support them. " Coach Faust knows football and knows how to build a football program. He needs support from the community and school board and it was lacking. Coach Stevens knows football, he played college ball and knows what it takes to make a team better. Bracken has some great young talent. A good way to waste it is by not coming out on game day and supporting them. Football gives a lot of young men the opportunity to learn how to work hard and work together. Bracken Co. you were lucky to have Faust, and you better not take for granted Coach Steven and Coach Breeze! "

" Mr. Hamilton makes some good points early in his article, but taking it out on the kids for mistakes or problems by adults is wrong. His reference about nothing positive in Bracken County is VERY offending. There are lost positive things happening in the Bracken County School District, including other sports teams, clubs, and at all levels, but all the media wants to publish is negativity. What a shame.

Just for clarification--All sports have booster clubs and all are quite active and supportive at the high school level. And, our volleyball coach has not been dismissed this year. "

" I think the district should honor the success that Coach Breeze has had as the head coach of the middle school by giving him the reigns to the varsity team. Coach Breeze understands ths x's and o's very well, and more importantly has the inate ability to lead assistants and young athletes and inspire them to give 110% on every play. Breeze has built Brackens program. It is him that made the boosters what it is. Could anyone imagine Bracken Football still existing without Joe Breeze? I say go with what works. Breeze works hard, cares even harder, and always finds a way to field teams that can beat anyone on any given day! Where else in the state does the middle school carry and support the entire program (financially speaking)? I think the world of Chuck Faust as a person, but am I to beleive that our varsity is incapable of playing anyone? No! Of coarse not! If our middle school can win in this district, then so can our varsity. Our varsity works harder than any team I have seen, and so it is not to fall on those kid's shoulders if someone is to be blamed for not giving what it takes to win. "

" I also feel that more attention needs to be paid to how sports are being handled, in every sport in Bracken County. I support numerous sports and I love the school system, but I have been sadly disappointed numerous times with the way some of the student players are treated. I have been to numerous games and watch kids with wonderful skills sitting on the bench while other kids take over the sport. How are any other kids supposed to ever get a fair shot if they are never given the chance? I am not suggesting a "play everyone system", but I would suggest such a system that kids who can play a decent game get the opportunity. Some people may be surprised by what some of these kids can do! But I feel like some people know what these kids can do, they just don't care.I understand that the kids are supposed to "Play as a team" Well then, treat them as a team. If the coaches really always cared about a win, they would play some of the other talented players as well. "

" I myself think it is pretty bad when an organization besides the school system is saddled with buying the team equipment and other big ticket items for the team. And if you have ever been to a game do you ever see many supporters from the school! ABSOLUTLY NOT!!! This system needs to wake up and support all their sports and coaches, they need to work as a team. "

" I think it is sad the Bracken County school system would not allow Coach Faust to finish the season. The kids respected him and worked hard even though the never won. The volleyball and football coach has been dismissed, but do you think they would fire the boys BASKETBALL coach? Of course not!!! Basketball is all the school thinks about, which I think is crazy..........they don't win much either. The school system would bend over backwards to make sure that the basketball teams have all they need. Football on the other hand is another story. I believe they wished FOOTBALL had never started in Bracken County. If it were not for the football parents and boosters the football players would have never gotten to play very long. Since the FOOTBALL BOOSTERS is were most of the funding for the WHOLE FOOTBALL PROGRAM (5th through 12th grades)comes from. I think the school needs to take a closer look to the way thinkgs are done and to treat all sports with the same respect.

" I am concerned with the whole school. The school board will not stand up for what is right. The sports program is a joke, I see why people get out of the town to play ball at MASON!! I feel the football program is getting better but come on people we need to not let a bus driver tell the board what to do!! "

" The boys are standing as a team in a bad situation. They were not told everything but they have moved on. they just want ot play football. This team works hard all week, then on Friday they are beaten down. come Monday they are back at it. Hopefully someday we will have a winning team,but when over half of the boys are on the field the whole game they are beat mentally & physically. To the present coaching staff thanks for all you do. " I am very concerned with many decisions that are being made in the Bracken County School System! Where are they going to start making decisions based on what is best for the kids in their county!!?? The school board needs to get more involved in the decisions that are being made! There have been some very $costly$ decisions/mistakes made by the administration in Bracken County Schools. And I am not talking about sports...but as a side note...the volleyball coach was dismissed too! "

" I won't claim to know the whole story with Coach Faust, and quite frankly I don't care to know. There will always be controversy and differences of opinions that will lead to these types of situations. One large positive, however, has been the performance of the 7th/8th grade Bracken County Cubs football team, who defeated Frankfort on Saturday and will meet Eminence this week, to fight for the District Championship. WAY TO GO CUBS!!! "
