The Kentucky Gateway Museum Center is pleased to announce the design for the 2013 Oktoberfest pin has been chosen by the Oktoberfest Planning Committee. The winning design was submitted by Stephanie Martinez of Carlisle, Kentucky and is the Visual Art Instructor at Mason County High School.
Stephanie graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in Art with a concentration in ceramics/art history and completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of Louisville. Stephanie started teaching Art in Mason County in 1999 first at the Middle School and the last several years at MCHS. She has also been a member of the Ohio River Valley Art Guild since 2001.
Stephanie quoted “I enjoy experimenting and creating with many types if art media, with a background in clay, fiber, drawing and painting. I am always interested in using new materials and that is what makes visual art a lifetime adventure. I have always created graphic design work for friends and family but over the past few years with the increase of technology in the visual arts I began to teach my students through basic programs on the iPad and developed an interest in working with these to create the Oktoberfest design. I am excited to have my design featured for this year’s event.”
The 3rd Annual Maysville Oktoberfest will be held in historic downtown Maysville on August 9th and 10th. For further information about the festival go to www.maysvilleoktoberfest.org.
