December seemed to arrive with a vengeance, and it is VERY cold as I write this article. But doesn’t the snow just seem to help create the expected atmosphere for Christmas? It makes the lights seem brighter, dresses up the greenery we’ve hung and covers the grass that that already decided to turn brown. I trust that you will be able to spend time with those you love, whether friend or family, and let them know how much they mean to you.
Enough of this sentimental stuff, there’s still time to get your Christmas shopping done and if you are having problems with what to purchase, the Maysville-Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce can help. Try our Chamber Choice Gift Checks. You can purchase them at the Chamber office and redeem them at participating Chamber members. They are available in denominations of $5, $10, $20 or $25. Just stop by the Chamber office to purchase. To make it easier to purchase gift checks, call ahead and we will have them waiting for you, 606-564-5534. The office will be open until Dec. 22 at noon, so make sure you plan accordingly.
Last month, we celebrated our membership, “Our Team.” This has been a busy year! We led Mason County in the process of becoming a Kentucky Work Ready Certified County, planned 13 meetings/trainings, and held 13 ribbon cuttings. We celebrated with 62 Mason County High School Juniors and Seniors who earned the Work Ethic Seal. We were a Champion for Small Business Saturday and enjoyed our 20th Annual Golf Scramble.
Now for 2018, we all wonder what it holds. You can count on the fact that the Maysville Chamber will work to support our local businesses and provide access to the information needed to continue to be successful. Our first membership meeting of 2018 will be on Jan. 18. Karen Hall with the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety will be our speaker. Make plans to join us at 11:30 a.m., at Caproni’s. Cost is $15 per person.
Let me close as I started, maybe a little sentimental, but truly heartfelt, our wish for you -- an opportunity to experience the joy of a very, merry Christmas and the anticipation of a prosperous New Year.
