Local first responders were part of a recovery effort late Tuesday following reports of a body floating in the Ohio River.

Maysville Assistant Chief of Police Lisa O'Hearn, Detective Ken Fuller, Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs, Maysville Fire Chief Eric Bach, Firefighter Dwayne Rice and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Agent Cory Ellis launched from the Maysville River Park boat dock around 4:30 p.m., to conduct the search. Initial reports indicated the body was west of the William Harsha Bridge, in the vicinity of the International Paper plant and East Kentucky Power Cooperative's Spurlock Station.

It was confirmed by officials that a body was located near the Kentucky shoreline around 5:15 p.m.

Officials questioned before leaving to conduct the search indicated there have been no missing person reports filed in the area.

Assistant Mason County Coroner David Lawrence arrived at the scene at 6:11 p.m., as the investigation continued.
