FLEMINGSBURG – If you are too busy to plan a healthy meal, the Learn at Lunch event in Fleming County may be for you.
The Fleming County Chamber of Commerce will be holding an educational event called “Healthy Meals for Busy Employees” on March 15 at the Fleming County Extension Office.
“So many people just go to McDonald’s or somewhere like that for lunch because they feel like they don’t have the time to make a meal,” said Executive Director Crystal Ruark. “Even if they go somewhere like that, the program will help them to pick healthier options.”
Ruark went on to say the program will be headed up by Donna Fryman, Fleming County Extension Agent. Fryman ran the program last year and it had a good turnout of employees sent by businesses to relay information back to the company afterward.
“Our annual breakfast is normally for the business owners and CEO’s,” said Ruark. “These events are normally attended by the employees who can learn from the event and then help their coworkers to make a change as well.”
During the event, a meal will be prepared by those people who are attending to show the ease of planning meals and eating healthier. Recipes will also be given out to those in attendance.
“We are sponsoring the event and the extension office is leading it,” said Ruark. “But we have had a lot of success with this in the past because it’s good for people to know there are healthy options.”
There is a charge of $15 per person for the event.
