GEORGETOWN – A man was recently arrested in connection with the death of a man found dead in a ditch near Mount Orab in October.

Billy Ray Hackworth, 44, of Hillsboro, was arrested recently and charged with involuntary manslaughter, corruption of another with drugs, aggravated trafficking in drugs and tampering with evidence in relation to the death of Clint Doss in October.

According to reports, Hackworth allegedly sold fentanyl and caused Doss’ death as a result of drugs, then moved Doss’ body into a ditch on Oakland Road near Mount Orab.

Doss’ body was found on Oct. 13 in a ditch on Oakland Road just off Hope Oak Station, according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, which opened an investigation into the man’s death.

The investigation was carried out by the sheriff’s department, the Brown County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force, Mount Orab Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Hackworth is set to appear in court for a pretrial hearing Dec. 28 at 9 a.m. His bond has been set at $250,000 cash, surety or property, according to court records. He must also do weekly drug testing at his own expense.
