SARDINIA, Ohio – Eight people were recently arrested in Sardinia, Ohio, on drug-related charges.
According to the Brown County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force, they, along with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Sardinia Police Department and Mount Orab Police Department executed a search warrant at 12685 and 12697 Heaton Road, Sardinia.
Once police arrived at the property, eight suspects were taken into custody on a variety of charges including possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, permitting drug abuse, trafficking in heroin, trafficking in methamphetamine, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, according to reports.
The search also revealed a clandestine meth lab, crystal meth, heroin and firearms, according to police.
Two of the suspects, Shaine Malott and Carl Hampton are currently lodged at the Brown County Jail.
Both were charged with one count of third-degree felony illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and one count of second-degree felony illegal manufacture of drugs.
According to court documents, the offenses allegedly occurred from around Feb. 1, 2017, to March 1, 2018. Both charged have over a decade-long history of legal trouble in the Brown County area.
Bond for both was set at $50,000 cash, surety or property.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected to be filed.
