MANCHESTER, Ohio — Paul E. Foster, 89, died at the Adams County Hospital on Wednesday, July 12, 2006.
Born on June 30, 1917, he was the son of Wava Lovell Foster and Angelo Watson Foster of Sandy Springs, Adams County, Ohio.
Paul was a graduate of Manchester High School, Holbrook College, Miami University and Ohio University. He taught and coached at Manchester High School for 18 years and served as supervisor of Adams County Public Schools for 13 years, retiring in 1977. He is a World War ll veteran, a member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge, a 50-year member of the Manchester Lions Club, a past elder and trustee of the Manchester Presbyterian Church and one of the founders of Southern Hills Athletic League.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jewel Humphries Foster; his son and daughter-in-law, Alan Watson Foster and Peggy Bertram Foster; three grandchildren, Bertram Watson Foster of Oxford, Ohio, Lauren Elizabeth Foster of Mackinac Island, Mich. and Washington, D.C. and Ellen Ann Foster of Winchester, Ohio; and a sister, Norma Foster Bradford of Dade City, Fla.
Paul is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Laurie of Ripley Pike, Manchester, Ohio and Mary Foster of southern Calif.; a niece, Mary Anne Foster of southern, Calif.; a nephew, Jerry Laurie and wife Carolyn of Aberdeen, Ohio; and a niece, Molly Ann Bostic and her husband Charles of Mount Carmel, Ohio.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Col. (retired) Ralph Watson Foster of Hemet, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006 at the Manchester Presbyterian Church.
Graveside rites by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Bertram Foster, Eric Tulley Butcher, Charles Bostic, Richard Jones, Jerry Laurie, David Wilson and C. R. Winterhalter.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Wilson Home for Funerals, Manchester, Ohio.
