RUSSELLVILLE, Ohio -- Roderick “Roddy” Scott, 71, of Ripley, Ohio, passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018.
He was born on June 3, 1946, in Cincinnati to the late Marion and Margaret Scott.
Roddy's love for Jesus was evident by the many people of Ripley to whom he ministered. He had a servant's heart and found many ways to help others daily. Roddy served in the Air Force, was a former mayor of Ripley, a former restaurant owner, a commercial fisherman and attended Faith in God Fellowship Church in Russellville, Ohio. He called himself a machinist yet his talents extended into so many other areas that there were very few things he couldn't do.
He was an avid reader, loved animals and his home was often a haven for injured or abandoned animals until they could live on their own. His wonderful, unique personality was entertaining and he was always ready for a hearty conversion. Roddy was an intricate part of the Ripley community and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debbie Ritchie Scott; his son, Allen Scott of Ripley; one brother, Rick (Kristi) Scott; and many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved.
A memorial service may be held later in the year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Faith in God Fellowship Church, 7736 US Hwy 62, Russellville, Ohio 45168.
