CYNTHIANA -- Evelyn Dunn Jones, age 99, Mount Olivet, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe.
She was born in Harrison County, Sept. 19, 1918, to the late John L. and Netta Whalen Dunn.
She worked many years as a certified nursing assistant at Harrison Memorial Hospital and was an active member of Kentontown Christian Church, Robertson County Historical Society, Charter member of the Robertson County Homemakers and commissioned Kentucky Colonel.
Her interests included spending time with her family and friends, playing the piano at her church, researching family genealogy and regular visits to the local library. A lifetime learner, when in her early 70's, Evelyn was accepted into the Donovan Fellowship program from the University of Kentucky where she continued her college education.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, James M. Jones; a daughter, Wilma 'Willi' Jones Beam; and a grandson, Kenneth “Kenny” Ashley Jones.
She is survived by a son, Jim (Sue Pardon) Jones; a daughter, Marjorie Elaine Jones Reeder; granddaughter, Laura (David) Jones Schneider Florence; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Schneider and Zane Schneider.
Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Robertson County Funeral Home by Bro. Clifford Neat with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Wilson, David Schneider, Zane Schneider, Dave Gallenstein, John Beam and Larry Jones.
