MAY'S LICK -- Oleta Christine Fryman Mitchell, best known as “Granny,” 89, of Maysville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Nicholas County on Oct. 21, 1928, daughter of the late A.T. and Blanche Tucker Fryman.
She was a member of Sardis Christian Church and in later years attended May's Lick Christian Church. Oleta was a longtime member of the Mason County Homemakers. She enjoyed her time working as a tour guide in Old Washington and was an avid fan of UK Basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball.
Survivors include one son, Gary Wayne (Joyce) Mitchell of Martin; a daughter, Barbara (Dale) Mitchell of Lexington; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Ford, Martha Elliott, Betty Kielman and Vivian Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis R. Mitchell on Oct. 13, 2012; and three sons, Roger Dale Mitchell, Tommy Mitchell and Donnie Mitchell; and two brothers, Elwood Fryman and Ollie J. Fryman; and a sister, Ruth Laypoole.
Services will be conducted at noon Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Palmer Funeral Home and Crematory in May's Lick with Bro. Tim Lorenz officiating.
Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
