VANCEBURG – A Lewis County school bus was involved in a wreck on Kentucky 9 AA Highway Tuesday.

According to Lewis County Schools Superintendent Jamie Weddington, the accident occurred a little after 7 a.m., as the bus was transporting children to school.

“It appears as though a rollback truck that had some Speedway gas pumps on it was traveling eastbound on the AA and they came upon a truck that was stopped and turning onto Lower Kinney Road,” Weddington said.

The rollback swerved to miss the truck, clipping the back end of the vehicle. The rollback then preceded to travel on and hit the school bus that was at a stop sign at the intersection of Lower Kinney Road and the AA Highway.

“One parent took two children to the hospital and one child was transported by ambulance (at parent’s request),” Weddington said. “All other students were checked by EMT’s and school nurses once they got to school.”

Weddington said that a few children were picked up by parents when they got to school. According to Weddington, they have no information regarding the hospitalized students as of press time.
