Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs is warning residents of a scam involving computers which has recently been reported to his office.

The latest scam has a caller identifying as representing Microsft Support and asking for information for access to the resident's computer, Boggs said. If that information is shared, not only does the scammer gain access to the computer for identity theft but also to credit cards and bank accounts, he said.
