CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – A short-term project in Adams County will affect traffic in the area this week.
According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio 247 in Adams will be closed from Dec. 5 – 7 between Howell and Robinette Roads, midway between Seaman and West Union, Ohio.
The closure is for a three-day culvert replacement and went into-affect at around 8 a.m. Dec. 5. The closure is expected to continue until 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 or until all work is completed, said ODOT.
For the duration of the project, motorists will be detoured via Ohio 136 and Ohio 137.
This project joins three ongoing projects in the Adams/Brown County area.
In Adams, Ohio 247 has been reduced to one lane at its junction with Watt Young Road as part of a bridge replacement project on Watt Young Road. According to ODOT, throughout construction traffic on Ohio 247 will be maintained in one 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. Watt Young Road, however, is closed to traffic and motorists are being detoured locally via Armstrong Road.
In Brown, a slide repair and culvert replacement project is underway on Ohio 125 west of Georgetown. According to ODOT, the site is located between Gillette Station Road and Winfield Drive. Traffic has been maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction and ODOT said all work is anticipated to be completed in early December.
Also in Brown, operations continue on a realignment/reconstruction project on Ohio 41 at Slickaway Road and on Ohio 763. These routes have been closed north of Aberdeen and motorists have been detoured via U.S. 52, Ohio 136 and Ohio 125 in Adams. ODOT said construction is anticipated to be completed in mid-December.
