Pavement collapse

A partial pavement collapse on U.S. 62 in Brown County has traffic maintained to one-lane.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – U.S. 62 has been reduced to one lane in Brown County due to a pavement collapse on Jan. 12.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, an emergency single-lane restriction of U.S. 52 has been enacted due to the collapse.

U.S. 62 is reduced to one lane between its junction with Ohio 353 and Brown County 36 (Gooselick Road), just north of the community of Red Oak.

According to ODOT, pavement in the area buckled and gave way alone the westbound lane and shoulder of the highway.

ODOT said that crews will work to restore the route as soon as a project can be outlined and implemented. A timeline to make necessary repairs was not determined as of press time.

The single-lane restriction will be in place until further notice and motorists are advised that traffic will be maintained in one 12-foot lane with temporary signals.
