The first five weeks of the season have some interesting twists and turns:
—For the first time since 1951, the Cincinnati Bearcats are ranked higher than the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Bearcats come in at No. 8 and the Buckeyes remain at No. 9 in the AP media poll.
—Florida State is 2-3 for the first time since 1983 and is on pace for its first losing season since Bobby Bowden’s first year in 1976.
—Gene Chizik won five games in two years at Iowa State, but he has won five games in five tries at Auburn.
—Notre Dame has lived up to its nickname. They have been the Fighting Irish to the end and they have the luck of the Irish.
Trivia time
Charles Commodore and Tooter Calvert knew that Bo Dean led Morehead State in receiving yards and scoring.
This week’s question pertains to a movie from the past. Brian Piccolo, the subject of the tear-jerking movie “Brian’s Song” played for what college? Contact rpbailey@maysvilleky.net.
