LOUISVILLE — The Bellarmine men's basketball team moved up two spots in the final D2SIDA basketball poll of calendar year 2017 to claim the No. 2 position.
The Knights, which upended Le Moyne in their only action of the past week, took the spot previously held by Lincoln Memorial, which lost to No. 1 Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday and tumbled to No. 7 in the this week's ranking.
Bellarmine also rose past former No. 3 Ferris State after the Bulldogs fell at Lake Superior State last week. The Lakers moved up eight spots in this week's poll to No. 9 with Ferris State in the 10th spot.
Queens (NC), Arkansas-Fort Smith, and Christian Brothers round out the top five with the remaining top 10 spots held down by West Liberty (No. 6) and previous Bellarmine opponent Barry University (No. 8). The Buccaneers climbed back into the top 10 after pulling off a come-from-behind road victory at the University of Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
The D2SIDA poll, which is voted on by sports information directors, will recess until Jan. 9.
The NABC Division II Rankings will not be released this week but will return on Dec. 26.
