One runner continued her dominance, the other broke on to the scene after making great strides a season ago.
For Peebles' Jenny Seas and Bracken County's Jared Jefferson, their performances during the fall country season earned them The Ledger Independent's runners of the year for the All-Area cross country team.
Seas closed out her season with dominating performances at the OHSAA Division III Southeast District meet with a first-place finish, beating the field by 1:09 and running away with the Southern Hills Athletic Conference end of season meet, beating a field of 55 runners by 1:48. Seas was destined for the state meet once again, but an injury derailed her season after the district meet and was unable to compete in the regional meet.
Jefferson became the first Polar Bear in school history to win a regional title, claiming the Class 1A, Region 5 meet and then went on to finish third in the Class 1A state meet at Kentucky Horse Park. During the season, Jefferson set a school record with a time of 16:13 at the Area 7 Meet at Mason County.
