It was the week before Christmas with plenty of hoops action in sight.

The 3-pointers were launching and the ball bounced through the night.

Alright, I'll stop...

It's that time for Players of the Week for the week of December 18-24.

The two players that stuck out to me most were St. Patrick's Brevin Jones and Bracken County's Kennedy Carl.

Jones kicked off the week with a bang against Augusta in the "Hoops for Hope" contest on December 18. The senior guard recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Saints knocked off the Panthers for their first district win in nearly four years. Jones hit five-of-six 3-pointers in the contest. He followed that up with another double-double on December 20 against June Buchanan, posting a 24 and 11 stat line and draining six triples as the Saints suffered a 78-70 defeat. The Saints would ride the hot hand of Jones to wins over Piarist and Rose Hill Christian as they claimed the Rose Hill All Private School Invitational Championship with the win over the host Royals. In the four games, Jones averaged 19.7 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 40 percent from three. Jones knocked down 15 3-pointers on the week and catapulted himself up the state leaderboard in 3-pointers made per game with 3.2 made per game, good for 10th in the state.

Carl was instrumental to helping guide the Lady Bears to a three-game winning streak. The junior guard averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in wins over Bath and Robertson County last week. Carl scored 17 in a 64-60 win over Bath County on Tuesday and added 10 points and seven rebounds in a 64-38 win over Robertson County on December 22.

As for team of the week, that will go to the Bracken County Lady Bears. After an 0-7 start to the season with a tough schedule, the Lady Bears have won three straight, including two wins last week over Bath and Robertson County. Bracken squeaked one out in Owingsville, 64-60 on December 19 and blew away the Lady Devils, 64-38 on December 22 to get them to 3-7 on the season prior to their Wednesday tip at the Capital Classic at Frankfort Wednesday afternoon.
