BOWLING GREEN - It was quite the experience for Lewis County eighth grader Logan Liles over the past few days.
First, over the weekend Liles competed in the middle school state golf tournament, finishing tied for 16th with a 77 at Quail Chase Golf Club in Louisville.
Then, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Liles competed with the Lewis County High School and his teammates at the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championship in Bowling Green.
Although the Lions didn't make the cut as a team, the eighth grader was the lone Lions member to make the cut as an individual, firing a 5-over 77. On Wednesday, Liles followed up Tuesday's 77 with a 7-over 79, finishing the tournament at 12-over, good for 47th place.
Liles round on Wednesday had a birdie on the par 3 No. 11 to go with six bogeys, a double bogey and 10 pars. The future is bright in Vanceburg for Liles.
Lexington Christian Academy took home both the team and individual top spots in the two-day tournament. The Eagles shot 8-over par as a team, beating out St. Xavier by three shots. Eagles' Jansen Preston took home the individual title with a two day score of 7-under, knocking off defending champ Cullan Brown of Lyon County by three strokes.
