Regional high school cross country meets took place across Ohio on Saturday, and one area runner survived to run one more race this season.
Matt Seas, a senior at Peebles, finished 14th at the OHSAA Division III Southeast regional meet in Pickerington with a time of 16:46 to qualify for the state meet next Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
Seas finished first at the district meet the previous weekend with a time of 16:31.
The boys’ Division III race is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Also competing in the regional boys’ race were Manchester’s Ethan Pennywitt and the West Union team. Pennywitt finished 78th in the field of 129 runners at 18:33. The Dragons placed 16th out of the 16 teams there. They were led by Steven Runyan, who finished 86th at 18:44. Adam Fulton finished 94th (19:01), Garrett Vogler finished 117th (20:22), Braxton Blanton finished 120th (20:32) and Jai-Michael Knox finished 121st (20:33).
In the girls’ Division III Southeast regional meet, Eastern Brown finished 14th out of 16 teams. The Lady Warriors were led by Loralei Young’s 54th at 21:39. Camryn Pickerill finished 60th (22:00), Emily Fannin finished 90th (23:07), Emma Brown finished 99th (23:18) and Kalle Reynolds finished 120th (25:12).
Peebles had four girls’ runners compete. Kierra Stone finished 74th (22:31), Lilly Gray finished 85th (22:59), Alisan Behr finished 101st (23:21) and Abby Faulkner finished 102nd (23:24).
West Union’s Anna Shupert finished 50th in the field of 133 runners at 21:33.
The Georgetown boys’ team finished 13th out of 13 teams in the OHSAA Division III Southwest regional meet at Troy. Joshua Galley finished 64th at 18:40 to lead the G-Men. Tanner Ellis finished 71st (18:54), Garrett Ernst finished 98th (20:05), Anthony Carrington finished 100th (20:08) and Cody Graves finished 104th (21:10) in the field of 110 runners.
The Georgetown girls’ cross country team finished 12th out of 12 teams in the girls’ Southwest regional meet. Katlin Colwell led the Lady G-Men at 66th in the field of 100 runners 22:38. Olivia Waits finished 80th (23:44), Allyson McHenry finished 90th (25:02), Grace Burrows finished 91st (25:15) and Cameron Cluxton finished 98th (32:15).
