With a little bit of a breather between now and basketball season, We're bringing back All-Area teams.

First, starting with golf. The 2017 season was trying for some, but with golf, that's expected with the ups and downs of the game. West Union saw a lot of success on both the boys' and girls' side with Elijah McCarty and DeAnna Caraway leading the Dragons and Lady Dragons to SHAC titles. McCarty walked away with consecutive SHAC titles after beating the field by 11 strokes in the end of season tourney. The success didn't stop there as he won a district title and placed second in the sectional, qualifying for the state tournament, where he finished 31st. McCarty was also chosen as Southeast District Division III Player of the Year.  Caraway beat out teammates Lindsey Daniel and Alex Clark for the girls' SHAC title. The Lady Dragons junior was also named to the Southeast Division III All-District first team.

Georgetown's Lance Sininger wasn't too far off, winning Player of the Year in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference, recording an average score of 1-under par during the season. Here are the 2017 Ledger Independent All-Area Golf Teams.
