Elijah McCarty shot a 1-under 35 during the second round of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Golf Tournament at Buckeye Hills Country Club on Thursday to take a 5-stroke lead in the tournament.
McCarty entered with a 1-stroke lead, after shooting a 1-over 37 on the back nine at Hilltop Golf Course on Tuesday.
McCarty, who has been the medalist for both rounds of the tournament, has led West Union to first in the team standings. The Dragons shot a team 168 on Thursday. Jacob Pell, who is currently tied for fourth with Peebles' Bostin Robinson, shot a 7-over 43 on Thursday, while Carson McFarland and Andrew Sapp each shot 45s.
North Adams came away with the best team score on day two at 165. The Dragons have a 9-stroke lead on the Green Devils after the second round, with Manchester currently in third at 352.
Ripley shot 192 as a team on Thursday, the fourth-best score at Buckeye Hills, but currently sit behind Whiteoak in the tournament team standings by three strokes.
Lynchburg-Clay is currently sixth at 406, seven strokes behind the Blue Jays, while Fairfield sits in seventh at 412. Eastern Brown is eighth after two rounds at 427.
Noah Lung of North Adams shot a 3-over 39 on Thursday and is in second individually. Manchester's Logan Hayslip shot 40s both days, which puts him third in the standings. Dylan Colvin of Manchester and Bryant Lung of North Adams are tied for sixth in the tournament at 84 strokes, while West Union's Carson McFarland is eighth at 87.
Brian Dunn of Ripley moved into the top-10 after shooting a 6-over 42 on Thursday. Dunn was tied for 14th after round one. He is currently tied for ninth with Colt Shumaker of North Adams at 88.
The third round of the SHAC Tournament is scheduled to be played on Tuesday at White Oak Golf Course. The fourth and final round is scheduled for next Thursday at Snow Hill Country Club.
